History of SEARMS

and the current situation


South Eastern Aboriginal Regional Management Service (SEARMS) is a
Co-operative that consists of six Aboriginal Housing Providers. SEARMS services the Aboriginal Communities of South East NSW including:

  • Jerringa
  • Ulladulla
  • Batemans Bay
  • Moruya
  • Mogo
  • Bodalla
  • Narooma
  • Wallaga Lake
  • Eden
  • Yass
  • Queanbeyan
  • Young
  • Bowral
  • Mittagong
  • Wingecarribee

In 2003 SEARMS was established under a Regional Management Model of the Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO). SEARMS aims to improve service provision of community owned rental properties, and to bring about better housing management.

The Co-operative is made up of the following organisations:

  • Batemans Bay Local Aboriginal Land Council
  • Budawang Aboriginal Corporation (Bateman's Bay)
  • Cobowra Local Aboriginal Land Council (Moruya)
  • Mogo Local Aboriginal Land Council
  • Ngambri Local Aboriginal Land Council (Queanbeyan)
  • Bodalla Local Aboriginal Land Council
  • Merrimans Local Aboriginal Land Council (Wallaga Lake)

The above organisations continue to have a shared vision to ensure that together as social housing providers they are able to face the challenges ahead.
